It is more than just the passage of a baby from womb to world…it is the beginning a new path in a parent’s heart and lives that will continue for the rest of their lives. This path is full of so many new twists and turns, that it can feel overwhelming and uncertain…but there is HOPE! Many have gone down similar paths before you and leave a message to you to embrace this time and live it to its fullest.
You will learn about the mechanics of labor and birth. While both mother and partner gain an understanding the body and creating an environment for optimal health. We will explore a variety of both natural and conventional tools that can be available to you during pregnancy, childbirth and infancy.
Though this curriculum is not based in one particular approach to childbirth, breastfeeding or parenting; techniques and principles from several successful methods and teachings will be discussed. Because you are a complete person with a mind and a spirit effected by this season of life, time will be provided to discuss your wishes and fears relating to pregnancy, labor and parenting. We will walk through decision making processes and provide resources to ease your transition and develop a proactive approach for when the unexpected arises. There will also be opportunities to learn how to incorporate your spiritual beliefs into the special day and early parenting, if that is your desire.
Classes are offered on an AS NEEDED basis. When someone expresses an interest in taking a class, we schedule the class according to the student’s availability.

5 – Week Full Series (Group Classes)
Meeting every week for 5 consecutive weeks, couples will get the full experience of a childbirth education class. Instruction will begin at 6:30pm and we finish by 9:00. Participants are encouraged, however, to arrive at 6:00 with dinner in hand for a time of socializing, and getting to know one another prior to the beginning class.
The cost for this class is $200 per couple. There is a $50 discount for referring another expecting couple to join the class with you! Various payment options are available.
Accelerated Version (Semi-private or Private)
Meeting for a total of 4-5 hours, couples can get the basics of of a childbirth education class, with most of the focus on the birth itself. This class is perfect to use as a refresher if you have had previous children, or if your due date is rapidly approaching.
Instruction is done in either the course of one day or spread out over two days. Classes are scheduled on an “as needed” basis.
The cost for this class is $175.00 per couple. There is a $25 discount for referring another expecting couple to join the class with you! Various payment options are available.
Comfort Measure for Labor and Birth
Need more than what your doctor or midwife is telling you??? Was the hospital-based class not enough???
This is a 2.5 hour class specifically in response to the many couples that want to know more about getting the tools they need to experience a lower intervention, preferably drug-free childbirth. They want more strategies for natural coping skills that what a hospital-based childbirth education program offers. This course is great for homebirthers, too!
**It’s not meant to be the “miracle-working” solution, nor is it meant to replace a traditional childbirth education class, but it can definitely help parents get the atmosphere in the birth room ready for an incredible birth experience and help them have the tools they need to feel more confident about their options for relieving pain through movement, breathing, and other traditional coping techniques.

Welcoming Birth is taught by Martha Suronen, IBCLC, and ICCE. She has been assisting parents for over 15 years as a Lactation Consultant and Childbirth Educator, in both the private and hospital settings.She believes that every birth and baby are unique. Families need to gather the information and resources they need to support their beliefs and be able to make confident decisions without judgement, fear or pressure. Each birth and child are on an individual journey with no set path. That family members are continuously adapting to life.
